For our class this week, we had the presentation about all the topics that left and unfinished. this week, we learns a lot of syllogism. for me it is actually makes me feel dizzy and blur but luckily because of the hard work from my classmates during their presentation, i can understand what is the syllogism it is. when we talk about syllogism, we must have the premise and also the conclusion. there are so many types of syllogism after we went through all the topics. finally, we had finished all the topics that have in the reading book. CONGRATULATION to all my classmates.

And on the friday, Miss Wani let us to watch the Sherlock Holmes movie. we had to watch this movie because Miss Wani had said that this movie had apply their investigation with the deductive and inductive arguement. we haven't finish watch this movie yet.
so wait for the next entry..
THAT'S ALL FOR THIS WEEK..THANK YOU..

~PLEASE LET ME GO TO YOUR SCHOOL~

Assalamualaikum, hai we meet again. As I had said before, Miss Wani had arranged a forum to our class and refers to the article in the reading book which is the title ‘please let me go to your school’. Basically, for my entry this time, I want to apply the 10 rules or element that relate to the article. Let’s go through the 10 rules.

  1. Topic

The title of the article is ‘please let me go to your school’. From the title, my first assumption is I think a child is begging to a particular school to go to that school. From the picture that had paste at the article, I believe that she is a normal girl that has a normal life.

  1. Content

The article is about a six years old child which name Scarlet Finney had received against and discrimination about her hope to go to The Hills Grammar School. Scarlet Finney is a child that was born with a lesion in her spine that has caused paralysis of the feet and in continence. This means that her step of walk is really slow, but even though she is like that, but she is a moderate disability and according to her mother who is Bernadette Finney had said that her daughter is able to walk short distances and use ordinary toilets and is not intellectually disabled. (This can be prove by looking at the paragraph 5 and 6)

The participant is involved in this article is absolutely Scarlet Finney, Bernadette Finney as her mother, Scott Finney which is her father, Commissioner Graeme Innes which is really against the schools that do not want to take Scarlet Finney to the school and Mrs Kate Eastman of course as the barrister for the school. They are the participant in this article which we can refer to the article.

This incident was happened at the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. Scarlet Finney had told the Commissioner that she thought the school will take her in and she believes that the school is a very good school. She also told the Commissioner that, she had red in the book that The Hills Grammar school will take the child that is disabilities but when she applied to join the school, she had been discriminate by the school. (This can be refer at the paragraph 2 and 3)

  1. Source

This article I expect it might be at newspaper online or on the newspaper that had been distributed at the shops. This is because, there a writer that wrote this article and it is just based on the true event of a life. This incident had arisen the information about disability people’s right.

  1. Audience

This article was intended to the public society such as parents, government staffs, private staffs, disability peoples, higher board of ministry, all schools, and also to the students. The focus to this audience is want them to really realize that disability people also have their right to live happily in this world without feel neglected from the society.

  1. Rhetorical function

The writer of this article was tried to inform the readers about the problem that occur especially to the parents that has disability child. Like in this article, the writer had told the readers about Ms Finney problems towards her disability child. The writer also state the problem that come from the school side when the school was refuse to take Scarlet Finney as the student at the school. The writer also inform about the school that received a lots of amount of Federal and State funds but they still charge the fees that we can say not reasonable at all and the discriminate about the fees had been arising. (This can be referring to the paragraph 7).

  1. Purpose

The article aims to inform the publics especially the parents that have disability child, that their child have the right to stay comfortable among our society. This article also wants to show that there’s a fund from our government to support this disability child.

  1. Perspective

The stance taken in this article is the writer want to condemn about the school that refuses to take Scarlet Finney as a student there. The writer keeps focusing towards Scarlet Finney that she need to get her right. The writer also states a few statements that show the school is not keep their promise, for example we can refer to the caption of the article that stated “they wrote in a book that they do take children with disabilities”. The writer also state the disappointed feeling from Scarlet Finney that she thought the school will let her to go to that school but it happen against the situation.

  1. Positioning

The article describes that Scarlet Finney is a victim because she is a disability child. The school also performs the bias and unbalance system regarding to the Scarlet case. Like in the article, “it was a heart wrenching decision,” Ms Kate Eastman, the barrister for the school said. “But the school is not going to accept a student if it can’t provide everything to allow that child to achieve her best.” This article also show that Scarlet’s parents also feel very sad towards the school as the writer stated in the article “ we were made to feel that our daughter was an enormous burden”.

  1. Impact

The effect of the readers is likely to be an advice or want to keep the moral values among our societies. The effect is also focus on the self awareness that we must have in our daily life. The ministry and the government should not just close the eyes and just ignore what had happen. We must realize that the disability people also have their right in this world even though there have some difficulties to through the life but at least we as a normal people should support them.

  1. Visual Literacy

The visual aspects of the text are significant because this article is straight forward and really catchy. When the readers read this article, the will absolutely know what the problem that they are reading is. The readers also will know about the disability child that has received the bad treatment from the school that she has applied to further study there.

ANOTHER PRESENTATION

On the next day, we continuous the presentation. Next topic is still about the language which is Emotive Language. From what i understand is, this kind of language is the writer use to make the readers influence by what the writer had written. Yes, it is like influence the reader to agree with of all our statement no matter whether it is true or not.

It same goes with another presentation. I will not go through to every presentation, but to conclude all, my classmate had done a good job in doing their topic. Now i know that even the text that we read, it has something to tell us. It also include our behavior towards the understanding of who we are. Lastly, 'Statistic' topic really interesting to me. When we moved to this topic, i feel like i'm in the Modern Mathematic class session. Overall, i understand about the statistic topic. And i think it will help me in the research and project subject.

On the next day, we don't have the presentation, but we had a forum. The forum is regarding the article which is "Please Let Me Go To Your School". It is very interesting article. Miss Wani had divided us into 6 groups and we have to pick one representative from the group to participate in that forum. For my group, i am the representative. This article is about a child which is disability and had the spina bifida disease. I am her mother that need to fight for my daughter's right that want to further study in the Grammar Hills School.
Honestly, our class during that time was so interesting and not boring. At the same time, i learnt a lots in understanding the article.
Thanks again to Miss Wani for our wonderful class. Really enjoy it.

PRESENTATION

Assalamualaikum everyone and especially to Miss Wani.. I'm sorry because i haven't update my blog since the mid term break. For my entry this time is all about the presentation that me and my classmates had done.

For the first topic is about language. For this topic, the presenter are Ain Syuhada and Aisyah had explained about 'Language, perspective, ideology'. To be honest, i actually really don't get what is this topic is all about. I can get the meaning of language and also the perspective. In this topic, when we read the article, we need to find what is the writer actually trying to tell us. There are positive and negative side. But, when it turn to ideology, it is really hard for me to understand and this is the start of critical thinking. I'm sorry to tell this, but i really do not understand what is ideology actually.

Next topic is 'Language'. This topic is take over by me and my partner Syazwani. Honestly, we take a long preparation to make this presentation, to understand what is all about, but the poor thing is, our class was always had been cancelled before because of unexpected thing. But, at last, we can present it. In this topic, it taught us how to communicate in the good language. In our daily communication, it is important to us to precise what we have said. There are several type of language that can make our communication is imprecision. There are vagueness, over generality and ambiguity. We cannot speak in way which is too average, fuzzy, blurry or inexact and at the same time, we cannot be a poor listener to our partner. Which means that the person that always give the poor attention to the speaker. From this topic, i realized that we must precise what is actually we had said but not too broad and not too narrow.

For me, we have to know and need to precise everything to make misjudge of anything that can lead to bad incident.
